Unfortunately, the timeshare industry has become overtaken with many unscrupulous organizations that claim to have affiliations with Your Timeshare Genie, and may even claim to be calling regarding an ad placed with Your Timeshare Genie. Often times, these illegal companies may even state that they are calling because they have a buyer for your property. Unfortunately, companies like these are simply preying upon the anticipation of timeshare owners, and most times ask for hefty upfront fees to cover things like marketing analyses or closing costs. Please beware of such phone calls.
In order to protect the security of each client, and maintain the integrity of our company, Your Timeshare Genie employs many different tactics that will identify Your Timeshare Genie and any affiliate company. Your Timeshare Genie NEVER releases your personal information such as your direct phone number, contact information, email address, etc. to any company without your prior knowledge. If you believe that you are the victim of a timeshare resale scam, please call our office right away so that we may begin an investigation into these matters.
NEVER wire any money to ANY company – it is not encouraged to send a cashier’s check or money order to any company that is promising that they have a buyer, regardless of if they have sent you a written offer. Unfortunately, the great majority of these documents have been falsely created and are not legitimate.
Your Timeshare Genie encourages every client to do thorough research on the legitimacy of every company that contacts you with any “offers”, “buyers” or requests for payment. A great place to begin is through the State that the company operates. For any companies that are located in Florida, The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services regulates such companies. Any legitimate company will be registered with and hold a valid license through such an agency. Inquire about the company’s license status and verify their license number. Then personally contact the agencies to verify for yourself – do not trust what the sales person is conveying to you over the phone – no matter how good it sounds! To contact the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in Florida, simply dial 800-HELP-FLA (800-435-7352). You may also check the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services online at www.800helpfla.com. The State of Florida has recently introduced a new on-line license check which can be viewed at http://csapp.800helpfla.com/cspublicapp/businesssearch/businesssearch.aspx. Here, you can look up a business by name, license number, etc. You can view the complaints against that business and verify the validity of their license.
